Education

Education initiatives require the orchestration of many diverse activities that need to be completed in time for the opening of the school year. From staffing and enrollment to facility construction and infrastructure, success can only be realized if all deliverables are completed on time.

Project Control takes an holistic view to planning the implementation to ensure that all diverse activities are addressed. We map out all the dependencies, provide solutions to problematic intersections of activities, and ensure that the facility, people, and technology are ready when students arrive.

The Client:  Ryerson University

The Objective:  Sept. 2006 opening of the new Ryerson School of Business and associated retail development.

The Solution:  After evaluating several options for development, Ryerson entered into an agreement with Cadillac Fairview Corp. to develop an academic facility as part of a mixed use development adjacent to the Eaton’s Centre. To meet the September 2006 opening, Ryerson needed to define its design and construction requirements in a very limited time frame. Assessing the design and construction process, Project Control identified the priorities for key areas requiring Ryerson input. This allowed Ryerson to utilize its internal resources in a structured decision-making framework, meeting the demands of the design and construction process.

The Result:  Ryerson was able to provide all the facility requirements to meet the design and construction schedule for the September 2006 opening.
